Peace silk
We do not choose materials because they are in style.
We choose them because they contribute to comfort, wellbeing, longevity, and a lighter impact on the world around us.
What is peace silk?
Peace silk is silk created with greater consideration for the living world around us.
Unlike conventional silk production, peace silk allows the moth to complete its natural life cycle before the cocoon is processed.
For us, it is not only a material choice. It is a reflection of how we believe things should be made: thoughtfully, responsibly, and with care.
The result is a fabric that feels exceptionally soft against the skin, while carrying a story of patience, craftsmanship and respect.
Why we chose it?
We chose peace silk because it brings together qualities that rarely exist in the same material.
It feels luxurious yet practical.
Light yet protective.
Beautiful yet functional.
Most importantly, it supports what matters most: better rest.
Peace silk naturally helps regulate temperature, absorbs moisture, and feels gentle against sensitive skin. These qualities make it especially valuable during periods when sleep becomes more easily disrupted whether through stress, changing seasons, or hormonal transitions.
For us, true luxury is waking up feeling more rested.
Benefits for Rest
Temperature Regulation
Peace silk naturally adapts to changing body temperatures and can feel cooler when warmth builds and warmer when temperatures drop.
Breathability
Its natural structure allows air to circulate while remaining soft against the skin.
Moisture Management
Silk absorbs moisture without feeling damp, helping maintain comfort throughout the night.
Gentle on Skin and Hair
Its smooth fibres reduce friction and feel comfortable against sensitive skin.
The Journey
When we began exploring materials for Hawen, we knew we wanted to work with natural fibres.
We also knew that whatever we chose had to align with how we see the world.
During our research, we discovered something many people never think about: conventional silk production usually involves ending the life of the moth before it can emerge from its cocoon.
Once we learned that, we couldn't ignore it.
If Hawen was going to begin with silk, it had to be a silk we could stand behind. That search led us to peace silk.
Peace silk is a material that allows the moth to complete its natural life cycle before the silk is processed. But what ultimately convinced us was the fabric itself.
Lightweight. Breathable. Beautiful against the skin. Really the most comfortable material we had experienced.
For us, peace silk represents a more thoughtful way to make something. We believe the same respect should extend to people, animals, natural resources, and future generations.
Because none of us exists separately from nature. We are part of it.
